ACTION ALERT: Stop the Army’s Plan to Burn PCBs

YOU CAN HELP: Email the following people and voice your opposition to the proposed open burning of PCBs and other toxins by the Army.  Here is draft language that you can use in your message:

I urge you to actively oppose proposals by the U.S. military to open burn hundreds of contaminated buildings.  If approved by EPA, the burns will result in the uncontrolled release of PCBs, dioxins, and other toxins to the environment – placing our children at increased risk for serious health effects. 

The developing fetus, infants, and children are the population groups most vulnerable to environmental pollutants.  Exposure to PCBs and other toxins may impede the development of their brains, reproductive, immune, and endocrine systems.  PCBs can be passed to the human fetus through the placenta and to the infant through breast feeding.

Help protect the most vulnerable – our children.
